We intended to create a room that felt like a private retreat. Somewhere the end of a long day could genuinely feel like an arrival. The fireplace was the anchor point from the very beginning, not simply as a heat source, but as the emotional centre of the room. Everything else was designed around the experience of sitting before an open flame.
Every material was chosen to absorb light rather than reflect it — velvet upholstery in deep earthy tones, brushed brass accents that catch the flicker, and a hand-laid stone surround that gives the fireplace genuine weight and presence. The seating was arranged to face inward, drawing the eye and the body toward the flame and away from the distractions of the wider room. Lighting was kept low and layered, with no overhead sources — only wall sconces and the fire itself.
